Make Up... Powders.. Natural

Eyeshadow!

Making this handmade is awesome for us at Sweet Suds By Bree!
People know what's in it is decent for them!

Things like  Arrowroot , Mica, Beetroot, Carrot powder, Kelp,
Alfalfa, Titanium Dioxide, Black Walnut powder, Chamomile,  and so forth!

We have even added powders and mica to certain lipbalms.

We will blog more about the awesome things that can be added into different products later.

According to Nature's Garden " Beets are an extremely interesting herb to include in your cosmetic recipes.  Besides all of the health benefits that beetroot has to offer, you do not necessarily have to consume the beet in order to get on the healthy track.  By just incorporating the addition of beetroot powder as an ingredient, your skin and body is able to enjoy beetroot benefits.  Are you looking for an additional bonus?  Any time that beetroot powder is used in a cosmetic or body product recipe, beets also double as a natural colorant." As always Since this statement is not evaluated by FDA I can't make medical promises.

Colors can be lightened or darkened to visual taste. We can not guarantee a perfect match from batch to batch but close. With the slight variation you are able to pick the color for you.. from the trays. large batching will eventually happen. Other products are being developed.

There is just something awesome about these colors! We can't say enough about the natural powders!
StyleCraze says "Alfalfa contains minerals, such as calcium, zinc and iron."
Nature's Garden also says "INCI (Daucus carota).  Carrot powder is used in natural cosmetic formulations because it repairs and tones the skin, reduces wrinkles and scars, improves circulation, increases elasticity, and provides the skin with beta carotene, which is an antioxidant. Carrot powder contains the following vitamins and minerals to nourish your skin: Vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, E, K, calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorus, and magnesium. "

Mica is the name given to a group of silicate minerals that have silicon and oxygen as their two major components.

So here we are..

Detox.. Anti Aging.. Natural.. Bath Products.. .... Kelp, Clay, and More

Today Was Clay, Buttermilk, Kelp, Scents, Oils, Salts...

Many soaps were made today.. People are asking the benefits of certain ingredients.. FDA says We can't make any claims.. however I can give you researched facts!

According to mssybykwc.blogspot.com

"The benefits of bentonite clay in soap are two important ones. One is that this clay can detoxify your skin, and secondly, this clay creates a perfect barrier between you and the razor when in a shaving bar.
Bentonite clay is only found in one place, being Fort Benton in Wyoming. And it is not a clay exactly, but volcanic ash. The 'aluminum phyllosilicate' contained in it, is a super detoxifying for both your insides and outsides.

Bentonite clay can be used externally on skin for curing acne and skin rashes, as well as other skin ailments like eczema, psoriasis, bacterial and fungal infections. "

I found this information to be very interesting as well as helpful.

According to Loveforyourskin.net

" Bentonite Clay mask will help draw out toxins through the skin. The electrical charge produced by wet Bentonite clay is made up of negative ions that attract the positive ions in toxins and heavy metals, binding these toxins to it. Some to the toxins a Bentonite clay mask can draw out include plutonium and radioactive uranium and the heavy metals include lead and mercury. Toxins may cause premature aging."

According to Living Strong.com

" Sea kelp is loaded with skin-nourishing nutrients, such as Omega-3 essential fatty acids and polyphenols. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, vegetarian sources of the essential fatty acid, docosahexaenoic acid, or DHA, come from seaweed"

New creations are being made weekly with Sweet Suds By Bree as we can research them.

Honey I have Your Shop Local Info!

It is no secret We  believe in shopping local when We can...
Can you help?

We recently bought Honey from Petzold Farms and Beeswax! These local items items are used in our beauty products. We will also be Purchasing some items from local Pennell farms!
I am always looking for locals to give awesome deals / or collaborations to help each other grow!

Fresh melted Beeswax goes into these natural lipbalms. The last blog actually talked about what is in your store bought balms.. vs natural ones handmade!

Rebel Soul in downtown Vassar has joined the list of local business carrying Sweet Suds By Bree!
C&K Corner Store in Tuscola says our dino soaps have been a big hit.. Streetlight and Time to Shine have some as well! Super excited for Pennell farms to carry our products at the Davison Farmers market soon! We would be willing to work with Frankenmuth/Vassar farmers market vendors so they may get a % of the profit. We can't be everywhere at once so it is great for all of us.

Got some awesome seeds at Forever Green in Vassar as well as Central Shoprite!
We will be trying to produce some items on our own as well as buying local plants for items!
Please let us know if your interested in any collaborations.

Let's Bee Straight What's In Your Chapstick

There is what in that store bought Chapstick?

http://www.wyndhamhealth.com/ Image credit

According to morenature.com "There are a lot of bad and possibly even toxic chemicals like oxybenzone and petrolatum included as ingredients in many popular chapstick brands."
They go on to say that "Most lip moisturizer contains paraben or petrolatum, also known as petroleum jelly. Petroleum? You mean like the stuff in gasoline?"

I had no idea till recently how bad some of this stuff was.. I mean gross .. we actually ingest that stuff because it is on our lips!

Also ...
" OL (which indicates alcohol) and salicylic acid are two more ingredients that may cause some people irritation. "According to lifehacker.com

The difference...

Now, we have some lipbalms in our line with only 3 to 4 natural ingredients..  plus Vit. E sometimes. Stuff that's real...  Our beeswax is from a local farmer! We use minimal packaging when we can also. We just did a batch of peppermint which sold almost 1/2 within  the first day!

We try to include balms in the Spa in A jar lines! So excited to be producing this line!
We encourage natural items as much as possible. It doesn't always happen with all the stuff you use.. but helps when you try!

Springs Coming Are Your Feet Ready?

Feet......

I have always had a problem with dry, cracking, sore peeling feet! Every winter they are sooooo bad and it is so hard to get summer ready feet. But not this year! Since I have started my journey hand making soaps, and salts, balms, and butters... I found something to make my feet feel a whole lot better. Now of course being a small business I can't make claims to cures or medical properties. However I can share my personal results as well as anyone's opinions willing to give them. Right now the coconut oil / shea butter body butters I make are made to order for freshness. My scent of choice has been lemon. I also have 100% pure peppermint or lavender oils too! It is possible to get fragranced or non.

It's widely known that coconut oil is very good for your skin. I could quote 100's of blogs, Dr pages, and so forth! Shea butter is also another well known naturally good thing for your skin.. as well as Vitamin E and so forth!

Another thing I have found that has helped is the soaks with the Pink Himalayan Salt in our  Salts!  A fun tip to help your feet soften is to use a nice layer of the body butter on your feet  (preferably after a soak but not necessary)  ! Then cover your feet with thick socks for the night! If you are like many, you will wake up to a noticeable difference!
